Where Victorian elegance meets a touch of the dramatic...
Visit Shop 56, where vintage gothic, unique finds, and clothing create a space unlike any other in Tacoma's antique scene. This shop oozes with old-world charm, anchored by a stunning carved dark wood shelf unit topped with an ornately framed mirror that sets the moody, romantic tone. A hand-painted parlor lamp with floral globe shade glows warmly nearby, while Royal Doulton character jugs and carved wooden figures add personality to the walls. Vintage clothing hangs throughout the space, including a striking turquoise suede jacket and coordinating blue shift dresses with delicate gold embroidery, perfect for collectors of retro fashion and wearable vintage.
The art and decor here lean beautifully toward the romantic and classical. Gold-framed oil paintings and prints line the walls, from Victorian-era portraits of children and elegant ladies in red hats to a large, vibrant modern floral piece in rich purples and greens. An ornate gilded rococo-style clock, a fabric-art elephant wall hanging, and framed vintage automobile illustrations bring unexpected variety. French provincial oak furniture pieces, including a carved curio cabinet and matching side table, offer both function and style for anyone furnishing a period-inspired room.
Glass collectors will appreciate shelves packed with Depression-era pieces in green, amber, and cobalt blue, plus hobnail milk glass and colored art glass in deep cranberry and sapphire tones. A gold hobnail pitcher catches the eye up top, while pink hobnail lamp shades add a soft glow below. You'll also discover an antique sewing machine perched on the gothic shelf, vintage dolls, framed botanical prints, and a Victorian-style velvet upholstered parlor chair in golden crushed fabric. For anyone who loves vintage gothic, unique collectibles, and clothing with character, Shop 56 rewards a slow and curious browse. Your Next Gothic Treasure is Waiting.

Shop 56 opens with a statement-making Victorian parlor suite in light blue damask with carved walnut frames, arranged around a fur-lined glass coffee table on a red Persian rug, while a floral Gone with the Wind floor lamp, a colorful art glass etagere, and a bold Art Nouveau woman portrait in a gold frame fill the room with personality.
Two amber-red glass globe lamp bases and a carved bearded man's bust anchor the top shelf alongside a period-dressed gentleman figurine and a ceramic monk, while the lower shelves glow with green Depression glass goblets, cobalt blue hobnail vases, a milk glass ruffled basket, pink carnival glass, and red art glass pieces.
A vintage Nishijin pachinko machine in a wood cabinet features a circular playfield with a colorful robot creature illustrated backglass, brass pins, red bumper targets, and a blue plastic ball launcher, a genuine piece of Japanese arcade history.
The hand-painted Gone with the Wind lamp is a showstopper, its matching rose and violet floral globes sit atop an ornate scrollwork brass base on a square plinth, displayed on a pine side table beside an orange crocheted doily, with a pachinko machine and carved wood tables filling the space around it.
This two-tiered East Asian carved hardwood table is a standout piece, both the large lower panel and the smaller upper surface are covered in deeply carved bas-relief farming scenes depicting ox-drawn carts, plowing figures, rice paddies, palm trees, and thatched farm buildings, all protected under glass.
The ornate oak French Provincial triple curio anchors the room, its center section staging two collector dolls in patterned dresses alongside a leather-bound book stack and an amber carnival glass compote, while a Satsuma ginger jar lamp, a pair of carved samurai figurines, and a vintage Bakelite radio crown the top.
The light blue tufted Victorian settee and matching chairs create a true parlor moment, framed by a densely hung gallery wall of oval-framed Victorian chromolithographs, an oil river landscape, a velvet jester painting, a Syroco wall clock, and macrame, with a teal Tiffany lamp and a brass amber glass pitcher completing the scene.
The large signed Art Nouveau woman portrait in its gold ornate frame dominates the wall, while the black shelf below holds green fluorite and mica mineral specimens, a Silver Mountain toy train set, and vintage LP records including "A Spacecraft on Wheels," with a narrow lit curio beside it showing a green floral ceramic vase and a Capodimonte-style porcelain urn.
The carved hardwood step table's detailed lower panel, a horse-drawn cart passing farm buildings and a palm tree, all rendered in deep bas-relief, is shown in close context alongside "The Magic of Christmas" album on the upper shelf and a lit curio with a green floral ceramic vase just to the right.
The fur-lined glass coffee table doubles as a curio, its interior holding a green fluorite cluster, a mica mineral slab, a vintage tin space ray gun toy in red and yellow, and a King Arthur pinball score card with medieval knight illustration, framed by the Victorian parlor furniture on all sides.
Shop 56 centers on a gorgeous Victorian Eastlake settee in tufted blue damask with carved walnut detailing, surrounded by vintage wall art including a velvet clown painting, pastoral landscape, and framed cross-stitch needlework.
This Eastlake walnut side chair is a beautifully carved piece, its crest rail features a central carved female face flanked by foliate scrollwork, with rope-twist carved stiles and circular medallions framing tufted pale blue and cream damask upholstery, all set on turned legs with brass casters.
The narrow oak curio cabinet holds a curated mineral collection, an amethyst geode, a smoky quartz cluster, a banded sphere on a brass candlestick, and a malachite piece, while the adjacent oak secretary desk with its carved inlaid drop-front and serpentine mirror makes an equally striking pair, topped with a Satsuma ginger jar lamp in gold and cream.
The oak curio mineral display is shown in close detail, amethyst geode, smoky quartz sphere on a brass candlestick, green malachite, an agate loop specimen, and a raw quartz slab fill the two interior shelves, with the inlaid scrollwork secretary desk and serpentine mirror just visible to the right.
The large signed Art Nouveau painting in its ornate gold frame is the crown jewel of Shop 56, two women in elaborate hats and beaded gowns rendered in rich purples, pinks, and golds with a scrollwork column and flower-filled vase, mounted above a black console holding carved dolphins, raw crystal specimens, and a resin gnome.
