A little bit of everything, and a lot of fun...
Visit Shop 809, where vintage collectibles span from holiday treasures to retro kitchenware and everything in between. A bamboo-turned etagere anchors the space, loaded with Christmas goodies: painted wooden row houses, green glass demijohn bottles, golden mercury glass ornaments, a wooden toy wagon, a red Santa candleholder, brass poinsettia candle clips, and boxed ornament sets. Copies of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" and "A Christmas Story" peek out from a shelf alongside holiday tins and a red jingle bell garland. A lighted cabinet holds its own mix of finds, including Barbie dolls in original packaging, porcelain figurines, cobalt and teal art glass pieces, and a white ceramic owl.
The retro kitchen collection runs strong throughout. An entire shelf is lined with tea kettles in stainless steel, blue enamel, and white porcelain, plus a hand-painted floral teapot and a Corning slow cooker. Carved wooden owls, a yellow elephant cookie jar, a cheerful cat bank, and Starbucks tumblers give the upper shelves a playful feel. A stained glass tulip panel, whimsical illustrated plates, and an avocado-green Pyrex bowl round out the mid-century kitchen vibe. Below, colorful Fiesta-style plates and an American flag picture frame keep things patriotic and bright.
Vinyl records fill a crate near the center of the shop, with Bobby Darin and Johnny Mercer covers visible among the stacks, while a framed jazz musician silhouette print sets the mood nearby. Hawaiian shirts hang on a rack in garment bags, and a bin of Saturday Evening Post magazines sits on the floor alongside a "Wool Soap" tin sign. A white wicker crescent moon mirror, a turquoise bowling-style handbag, sewing patterns, Butterick boxes, a "Where in the USA is Carmen Sandiego?" board game, and beer steins keep the surprises coming. With so many vintage collectibles packed into one spot, Shop 809 rewards a slow, thorough browse. For more eclectic finds, check out Shop 82 or swing by Shop 68.
