Shop 18 - Chinese Immortals & Asian Antiques in Tacoma WA

Fu Lu Shou trio, Shou Lao with peach & carved Hotei figures...

Visit Shop 18, where standing Chinese immortals line the tops of the rosewood china cabinets across the back of the space. The Fu Lu Shou trio, representing Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity, stands in painted ceramic. A larger standalone Shou Lao figure carries his deer staff and a longevity peach. A bearded immortal in painted ceramic stands alongside. Smaller cream-and-gilt Immortals fill groups on the cabinet tops. Carved-hardwood Hotei figures sit in pairs at the front of the main case, with a larger glazed-ceramic green-and-cream Hotei holding his bag and gold ingots. A cracked-glaze standing figure and painted ceramic figurines share the surrounding shelves.

Asian antiques line the rosewood and glass cabinets across the rest of the shop. Famille rose ginger jars in pink and green sit beside Imari plates in cobalt, iron red, and gilt. Blue-and-white Chinese bowls, vases, and a koi-fish figure share the runs above. A celadon-glazed covered jar with relief carving anchors one shelf. Two presentation sets of reverse-painted Chinese snuff bottles sit in fitted silk boxes. The "Picture of the Eight Fine Tigers" set of four and the "Precious Panda of China" set of four both follow the 内画 inside-painting tradition. Miniature scenes are painted on the inside of clear glass. Reverse-painted hanging glass eggs in display stands share the upper shelves with a relief-cast brass dragon-handled vase.

Additional finds include a large blue-and-white fish bowl with dragon decoration on a rosewood stand, mahjong tile sets, and Chinese tea services. A framed Chinese double-happiness (囍) calligraphy art print on red ground leans at the cabinet base. Ask for Veronica, who curates and speaks Mandarin, Chinese, and English. The shop pairs Asian antiques, art prints, and Chinese ceremonial figures across centuries of Chinese and Japanese tradition. Browse the Mother-of-Pearl Asian Art at Shop 24 and the Asian Art & Antiques at Shop 8 for related finds.
