Shop 86 - Vintage Rattan & Bamboo Furniture in Tacoma WA

Bentwood hoop chairs, wicker baskets, cottage quilts & garden watercolors...

Visit Shop 86, where vintage rattan furniture sets up a full cottage room built around woven seating and warm wood. A bentwood lounge chair made from stacked bamboo hoops sits on a looped jute rug. Beside it stands a rattan swivel chair with a spindle back, a coiled base, and a rose print quilt folded over one arm. A tall wicker floor vase holds dried artichoke stems. Oak bookcases and glass-front cabinets run along the wall behind the seating, joined by maple step-end tables and a woven seagrass tray.

The textiles around the vintage rattan furniture stay in the same palette. A chevron crochet afghan folds in periwinkle, cream and gray. Tapestry throws carry red roses and yellow sunflowers with knotted fringe. Kitchen glass runs to primary colors: two yellow refrigerator dishes with clear lids, a yellow oval baking dish with tab handles, and three tall pink tumblers. A light blue opaline bulb vase stands next to three graduated nesting bowls in cream with silver rims and pastel floral bands. A hand-painted berry colander with its own saucer and a pair of white ceramic shakers sit on the same shelf.

Wall art and small collectibles fill the shelves behind the vintage rattan furniture. Two large framed watercolor prints show sunflowers in a blue pitcher and hydrangeas in a blue ironstone bowl, both matted in pale rose. A third framed watercolor of peach irises sits inside an oak cabinet. Three artist-signed collector plates picture nursery rhyme scenes, including a child asleep in a haystack and a girl in a bonnet walking a lamb. A ten-volume 1962 Collier's Junior Classics set stands beside its companion, The Young Folks Shelf of Books. Hand-thrown stoneware bowls in a speckled blue-gray glaze nest in a set of four. Smaller finds include a teal five-arm candelabra, white pierced ceramic candlesticks, and a milk glass hobnail bud vase. Teak salad bowls, a raised-relief world globe, and a pair of pierced scrollwork metal plant stands in a gold finish round out the group. The room moves from 1960s bentwood seating through 1980s cottage prints and handmade stoneware, with woven, wood and glazed textures repeating at every scale.
