Most pieces are sourced directly from Hong Kong, China, and Japan by a collector with over 30 years of experience, and the quality shows. Gorgeous blue and white porcelain dominates the shop, with hand-painted vases, ginger jars, chargers, and serving bowls in classic Chinese patterns. A large floor vase with a detailed landscape scene in cobalt blue is a real showpiece, and you'll find Imari-style plates in rich reds, blues, and golds alongside delicate tea sets and covered dishes.
The figurine collection is equally impressive. Tall porcelain statues of Chinese immortals and deities stand in vivid robes of green, red, and gold, while smaller carved Buddha and Hotei figures in wood and ceramic add warmth to the shelves. Maneki-neko (lucky cat) figures in several sizes bring a playful touch. Look for cloisonné eggs and miniature vases on carved wooden stands, ornate brass vases with dragon handles, and hand-painted reverse glass globes under glass domes.
Beyond the Asian pieces, Shop 8 also carries a selection of western collectibles, including crystal glassware, Lenox and Fenton pieces, and die-cast cars from Danbury and Franklin Mint. Framed Chinese brush paintings, including a beautiful bamboo and plum blossom piece with calligraphy, lean against the cabinets waiting for a new wall.
